A History of Quality Service
Environment Control Building Maintenance Company was founded in 1963 by Daryl Kraft. As a college student, Mr. Kraft purchased and operated a small commercial janitorial company just to "make ends meet." By the time graduation approached, his commitment to quality service had earned him a growing customer base. It was time to answer the question, "Pursue a new career or continue to build the business?"
In 1970, Mr. Kraft began to offer franchise opportunities and further refined his cleaning system and procedures. The program continues to incorporate the ongoing experience of over 50 independent EC companies in 19 states.
In 1997, after 34 years of being based in Anaheim, California, Mr. Kraft relocated Environment Control's Home Office to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Why We're Proud of What We Do
Environment Control provides a unique opportunity to do a good job where so few others do. EC represents a proud alternative to cleaning service mediocrity throughout America. The accounts we clean select our service because of our Commitment to Cleanliness. Our customers depend on us to brighten their day during our night.
Quality today is promised by everyone, but produced by almost no one. You be the judge; what have you seen or purchased lately that was of a quality to your liking? ...still thinking? Name a new restaurant or fast-food store where the portions didn't shrink and the service deteriorate after only a few weeks of trying to impress you. And what's happened to the quality service that used to be available at our local gas stations? Remember the "attendant" (they're extinct now) who used to meet you at your car, clean your glass, check your oil, water, battery, tires and smile? And remember those good old days when things lasted longer than it took you to pay for them?
Quality is still the number one work ethic at Environment Control. It's our desired mark on every account. It's why we select our representatives carefully; why we train, care, pay and promote them according to the job they do. It's why I write like this. Bottom line - it's why our company exists.
Quality is the way we want all our customers to remember us. More importantly, quality is the way we want to remember ourselves. And that's why we're proud of what we do.
What We Believe
We believe our employees always deserve respect for who they are (people) and appreciation for what they do (choosing to work for us). We believe they deserve grace - just as we'd desire - never disgrace, whether verbal, physical, or financial. We believe they deserve to be heard, since they may know their job better than we do and can tell us how to improve it. And we believe they know better than we do what it's like to work for us and can tell us how we might improve ourselves.
We believe employees don't just help us succeed, but they're why we succeed! And that's why we believe they're as important as our customers. We believe both are kings at Environment Control.
